The Wall Street Journal’s Evelyn Rusli reported that Facebook has been working on a mobile news reader product for over a year.
The reader which Facebook employees refer to is like its competitor Flipboard, another social news reader for tablets that has above 50 million users. According to Rusli’s source, the Facebook reader will “display content from Facebook users and publishers in a new visual format tailored for mobile device
Facebook designer Michael Matas, who has smart hardware startup Nest and Apple to his credit is leading the Facebook Reader team.
Mark Zuckerburg said, “We want to give everyone in the world the best personalized newspaper in the world,” during March when the News Feed was redesigned and Graph Search was announced.
There is no reduction in the mobile news readers. Facebook is trying out its hand, as Circa and Twitter has already developed its team to highlight and summarize the trending topics and social contents.
