Windows 8 Pro Upgrade | Windows 8 Captures 3.84% Market Share But Fails To Stop The Negative Growth

Even in the second quarter of the year 2013, Windows 8 is showing a slow but steady growth in its market share. According to the recent data from Net Application, in the month of April, the latest OS from the house of Microsoft has shown a decent growth. It has gained 0.53 per cent more from its market share of 3.31 per cent in the previous month. But, this decent growth was not enough to level the dip of the Windows platform in general. The Windows 7 alone has dipped from 44.73 per cent to 44.72 per cent in the month.

Growth of Windows 8 is quite steady, but it is not showing a speedy growth that was expected by the market. In the last month of the year 2012, Windows 8 recorded a gain of 0.66 per cent, which declined in all the next four months of the year 2013. After cessation of the $15 up gradation plan at the end of February that was offered to the people buying a PC with Windows 7, presently the hope of the company relies on the Windows 8 Pro upgrade for $70 offer, given to the students of 50 countries starting from the 1st of February. Re- capturing the market might become even harder as the latest Windows Blue is anticipated to be announced within a few months, and it is expected to be released commercially before the end of the year.

Till the end of 2012, the performance of Windows 7 was downright glorious, it crossed the 45 per cent mark in the last month of the year. After a bad start in the 1st month of the year 2013, the OS again seem to recapture its place slowly. But with the recent results it now seems to be a tough job. In the months, Windows Vista dipped by 0.24 per cent which was extended to a loss of 5 per cent share by March. Windows XP also slipped from 38.73 per cent to 38.31 per cent. After continuous loss in 2012, by the end of the year Windows finally managed to increase its share, which in 2013 has gone down again. In March, it reported some decent gain, but in the month of April it again lost 0.11 per cent.
