If things go as they look like, Sky Drive could soon be detached from its name. According to a UK court judgement Microsoft’s SkyDrive has got some trademark infringement issues from British Sky Broadcasting Group, which is known to us as Sky. Microsoft would now have to pay for using the SkyDrive name, if things don’t go the right way the might also need to rebrand accross Europe.Wales High Court ruling has increased the difficulties by giving rule in favor of Sky, which holds the the “Sky” trademark.
Settlement might be an option for Microsoft now because Jury has not made anything in favor of giant. And if past experiences are to recalled Windows had to Drop the “Metro” name after a lawsuit. Also the Sky persons also don’t look in mood for any settlement so its worth saying “History might repeat itself !!”
