Israeli company PrimeSense, who did lots of the work within the style of the first Kinect, have been bought out. Not by Microsoft, but by Steve Job’s Apple. According to sources, the deal went through for around $360 million. While Apple is not commenting on why the corporate was bought, if iOS device (or at least Mac) cameras do not begin shipping with 3D capabilities within the next few years, one thing has gone awfully, awfully wrong. You might suppose this is often terrible news for Microsoft, however it’s not; while PrimeSense were instrumental within the style of the Xbox 360’s Kinect, the Xbox One’s camera was formed and engineered entirely in-house at Microsoft.
