Ibrahimovic Believes He Would Have Destroyed Premier League

Update: The Player has stated (on Twitter) that he did not, in fact, speak to anyone from The Mirror. He goes on to call The Mirror a joke.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes that if he had ever made an appearance in the Premier League, he would have “destroyed” it. According to Ibrahimovic, reported The Mirror, Premier League is “a very strong league,” but he is confident and claims he would have been successful in England.

“If I had played there, I would have destroyed it, like I have everywhere else,” he told The Mirror. Ibrahimovic rejected the opportunity for a trial at Arsenal at the age of 16 and joined Ajax instead. But now at 32, he counter-backs the critics who would disparage him for never testing himself in England, and even took a shot at Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, whose title drought with the Gunners has passed eight years.

“Arsenal could have happened, as everybody knows — but I would not do a trial. Who do you think regrets that more, Arsene Wenger or Zlatan?” Ibrahimovic managed a four times score in a 2012 friendly against England, a fact he has not forgotten. “The last time I faced England, which is supposed to be the best players in the Premier League, what happened?” he said. “Maybe people need to be reminded that it was the Zlatan show.”
