Sony is making high strides in its digital ventures, but Guy Longworth shared some different views in an interview that the “vast majority of [gamers]…don’t want to buy online right now.”
On being asked about the future of both platforms, Longworth said Sony tries to “offer a relatively level playing field and let the gamers decide. We’re not trying to advantage them, we believe in consumer choice.”
According to him “the vast majority of the people want to go down to GameStop or Best Buy, they don’t want to buy it online right now.” Longworth admits that predicting future of any one forms is a big deal, and it’s too early to decide, but “people might be quite surprised. I think physical games will be around a lot longer than some people think.”
As of now both Sony and Microsoft will be providing digital and hard copies of Games.
Sony plans to release PS4 at Gamescom this year, and price drops on PS3 are not om schedules yet.
