“Chelsea Will Improve In The Coming Games”- Mourinho

Jose Mourinho, Manager of Chelsea, seems pretty sure that his side will ease past the group stages of the Champions’ league.

Basel, the Swiss team, came back from being a goal down to defeat Chelsea. Chelsea’s 29- match unbeaten streak at home was ended on Wednesday, following their 2-1 loss against Basel.

Chelsea was seen as the favorite to qualify from the group, which also includes Schalke and Steaue Bucharest. The unexpected setback should serve as a wake-up call to Chelsea and they have a lot of work to do in the group stage.

Despite the defeat, Mourinho said, “Finishing in the top two positions in the group phase is an objective which we haven’t lost yet. We will definitely improve in the coming games and would qualify to the next stage of the Champions League. The three points which he lost needs to be gained somewhere else. We need to win at Basel, our return fixture. We are going to fight for it and it is an objective that I believe which we would definitely achieve.”

“Generally, a team gains points at home and loses some in the away games. Now, we need at least 6 points at home and need some in the away games as well. We need to win at Basel to compensate for the defeat”, he said.

Mourinho reinstates that he is delighted with his striking options and is expecting Eto’o to play to his fullest potential for the club. Eto’o arrived from the Russian side, Anzhi Makhachkala.

In fact, Mourinho took blame for Chelsea’s defeat for their past two losses. The match against Everton was also a crucial game which Chelsea let go. Chelsea, now face Fulham at home and are looking to avoid a string of three continuous defeats.
