Apple Partner Increasing Staff Strength By 40%, Cheaper iPhone Might Be On The Way

Rumours of the new cheaper iPhone are already making rounds in the market for quite some time, and today’s disclosure from Pegatron, a key supplier of Apple, adds some new fuel with that. As told to Reuters, Pegatron the company with its headquarter at Taipei, is planning to increase its workforce by as much as 40 per cent in the second half of the year 2013. The company, which had run through environmental issues in the late 2011 at its China based production units, presently houses 100,000 staffs, and the new addition to the workforce will take it to 140,000 by the end of the year.

The CFO of the company, Charles Lin, told that the company expects to generate 60 per cent of the revenues only in the second half of the year. The CEO, Jason Cheng informed the investors that income from the communication products will make 40 per cent of the revenue of the company in the second half, which was reported at 24 per cent in the first quarter of 2013. Rushes to hire new workforce ahead of the launch of new products from the house of Apple is not a very uncommon phenomenon, which is propelling the speculations that a new iPhone model will hit the stores by the third quarter of the year.

According to sources, Production of the panels for the cheaper iPhone sets will start from this month, and the full -fledged production will start from June. And the reports suggest that the company Pegatron is working on this new cheap iPhone model which will target the lower income consumers in developing countries like China. Even after the huge speculations for the second half of the year, the company Pegatron is currently having a stumbled second quarter.

The revenue of Apple generated from China has seen a positive growth in the second quarter of 2013. It has improved 8 per cent to $8.2 billion, which accounts for 18.8 per cent of the total revenue generated, worldwide. But even after the over- all gain in the market of China, iPhone estimates just 11 per cent market share which is down in comparison with the rival company Samsung.
