Going by the new Patent Application from Apple, you could soon expect your iPhone, iPod or iWatch be made from Liquid metal. Yes it’s true, Apple has filed for a patent Application for incorporating the use of 3-D printing Liquid Metal in Mobile Markets.
Apple has been making strides in the field of Liquid metal since 2010 when it acquired the pioneer company in this field that owns patent applications for liquid metal fabrication processing. These rights were bought by Apple in 2010. Apple therefore has exclusive rights for making and selling this technology.
Liquid metal possess Glass like amorphous properties allowing it to be moulded in complex shapes even while retaining the strength. Currently Liquid Metal is used for 3-D printing of tiny object and in Apple products but in small scale like SIM card ejector.
