A couple of weeks back, the ‘lock screen bypass’ had made rounds highlighting the vulnerability of the then iOS Software. That particular software displayed iPhones hacking a cakewalk.
Manipulating iPhone was done involving a bunch of bizarre steps. This involved simultaneously switching between the emergency call function and toggling the phone’s on or off button. This uncanny method allowed the hacker access to the iPhone owner’s contacts, messages and pictures and videos.
Tuesday witnessed Apple releasing iOS 6.13 – a software update which fixes the bug that allowed the iPhone to be hacked. The software update is now made available to all iOS device owners. The iOS 6.1.3 is rolling out to iPhones now. It is easy to check if the software update is available to an iPhone. All one needs to do is:
- Go to the settings menu on the iPhone.
- Select General
- And then select Software Update from the menu option.
Apple hasn’t update their site about the security content of this update. But they promised to do so, soon enough. A quick note to the jail breakers “This update does fix some of the vulnerabilities needed to make the latest Evasi0n jailbreak possible, so don’t update if you want to retain that option.”
