After patenting the latest entrant in its ‘iProduct’ category in Russia and Japan, Apple has now gone steps further to trademark the Apple iWatch in Mexico and Taiwan too. The trademark was originally filed in Mexico’s Institute of Industrial Property on the 3rd of June, but was made public in recent days. Apple iWatch has been filed for a trademark under two categories, related to the hardware and software of the device.
According to the documents submitted at the filing, the request is submitted by a person named, Maria Teresa Eljure Tellez, who happens to be the Head of the Trademark department at Mexico-based law firm in Arochi, Marroquín, & Linder, S.C. This firm also appears on other Apple trademarks in Mexico. The address in Cupertino, California is given and Apple Inc. as the company behind the filing can be noted.
Looking at the Apple’s initiatives to file for patents everywhere in the world, it’s being speculated that its going to launch the series of wearable computers in the near future. The product is likely to be launched later this year or later in 2014. It will have sensors to gain information about the user in addition to functionality, such as mapping, and phone apps, that can interact with iOS Devices such as the iPad or iPhone.
Its also reported that the filing from Japan and Russia seems to be a bit vague, as compared to the ones done in Mexico. The filings were, however, done within the same week of each other.
Apple is also planning to launch newer versions of iPhone and iPad, and it remains to be seen whether it launches iWatch along with them or not.
