iTunes App Store is now going to hit the 50 billion downloads mark, which means around 6-7 apps downloaded by every person on the planet Earth, and on this occasion Apple is showcasing the top 100 apps (paid and free) for iPad and iPhone. To be particular the list contains 47 gaming apps that is not a way too much small a number within 100. Amongst these 47 games, the list of the paid iPhone games has 19 members, whereas the unpaid counterpart has enlisted only four. To get into the details of the games for iPad, 15 games from the paid band crowed the list and the free column gets another seven games.
To give it a closer look, in the top 100 list, Rovio, the entertainment media company and the famous creator of the Angry Birds take the biggest chunk with 11 of its members. All the Angry Birds games including all its traditional variants and Bad Piggies are there in the list with a single exception; the Angry Birds Friends, which rolled out just this week, is not in the list.
Once the Angry Birds list is over, we get to see the other members. Cut the Rope, Draw Something, Words with Friends are there. Success stories of indie developers can be seen with the presence of games like Imangi’s Temple Run in the chart. Tiny Wings from Andreas Illiger is also there. Scrabble, Monopoly, and Solitaire have not lost their charm as well.
The list of the games is enough to give the impression that the top 47 game list published by Apple mostly contains the strategy games and soft players, but in the true gaming sense there is nothing for the hardcore players. The games are all about physics puzzles, board games, runners that do not ever seem to end, and fruit slashers; shooters and racing games are totally out of the list. The configuration of iPhone can give well enough support to the hardcore racing and shooting games, but the people who use the device in majority, seem to have the least interest in Real games.
