12 Years A Slave Posters To Be Pulled Down After Fans Protested

Interesting news has come up regarding the development of the controversy in 12 Years A Slave posters.

It is reported that Lionsgate have announced that they will be pulling the controversial Michael Fassbender/ Brad Pitt 12 Years A Slave poster after a lot of protest from a certain section of people.

“The theatrical posters of ’12 Years A Slave’ which feature Brad Pitt and Michael Fassbender released recently in Italy. Apparently, they were unauthorized and did not receive approval from any of the licensors or producers of the film. Summit Entertainment is the sales agent for the licencors, ” a spokesperson for Lionsgate said. They’re going to investigate, and the stop the distribution of the unauthorized posters, and the posters currently in the market will be recalled.

Credit should be given where it is due. The Tumblr blog of ‘Carefree Black Girl’ posted images of the Italian poster for ’12 Years’. That caught our attention and has gone viral. However, there is a deeper question to this, ‘Were the posters really unauthorized and not approved? Or was it an excuse after everyone expressed shock and protested about them?

Whatever the answer may be, the film has received a lot of publicity and it should help the movie make more cash by the end of the year.
