Zeebox, a social television media application can now automatically identify what you’re watching through analysis of the show’s “audio fingerprint”. This implementation is close to what we saw in Yahoo’s IntoNow. This implementation was done in cooperation with Gracenote.
Gracenote report tell us that Zeebox records a vine-length audio clip, and then generates an audio profile based on that, which is recognized by Gracenote’s Entourage System. The app is available for Android, BlackBerry and iOS devices, the new implementation is limited to the shows that have arrived in the past seven days.
