The next Xbox 360 system update will do away with the confusing Microsoft Points system which is used to facilitate digital downloads. But the points currently possessed by gamers won’t just disappear, they’ll be converted by Microsoft into unredeemed gift cards- cash credit that will be equal to or of greater value than the points.
There is no word on the release date for the System update, but the software has been in public testing phase for over a month now. Xbox One, also will replace Points with gamers’ local currencies and will be using local currencies only out of box. Microsoft will also begin selling gift cards that could be redeemed through the system, but don’t expect them to be in stores until later this year.
