The day started with highlighting not-such-a-good news for the console game lovers. The next Xbox 720 popularly known as Durango, from the house of Microsoft is rumored to be an always-online system. After the launch of Wii U in the market and the official unveiling of PlayStation 4, it is the next Xbox that has become the centre of attention for the gaming generation, but this news is surely not going to make the gamers happy.
According to sources, unless some significant changes have taken place recently, the Xbox 720 internet connection will need to be operative . The internet connectivity will be checked at the time of starting a game or application and the game will become inoperative in case of loss in the connection for more than 3 minutes. This rumor came as a blast for the gamers as still there are many who enjoy gaming on a system, not connected with the web.
In this context, it is to be noted that the game from EA namely SimCity experienced an imperfect market report due to the same reason. A compulsory internet connectivity to operate the game served as the major reason behind its low popularity. And in case Microsoft comes up with their latest console that requires a compulsory internet connection, it is going to be a boon for Sony as their latest product PS4 does not require an internet connection to be operative.
It is to be noted that there is no official disclosure at the part of Microsoft, and this has fueled the speculations. According to some sources, Microsoft is just experimenting with the idea of compulsory internet connection in the console, but they will not certainly implement it into the shipping units. But according to Kotaku’s sources the idea was right in place even just 2 weeks ago, and they seem to be confident enough about the information.
The rumor about the online criteria is swirling in the market for over a year now. After the latest information from Kotaku, the rumor has gained momentum, but we are yet to find the fact unless something is spelled officially by the Microsoft.
