United’s captain, Nemanja Vidic has officially announced that it will be his last season for the Red Devils. The 32 year old captain’s deal is due in six months on which he has decided to appoint himself elsewhere, ending months of rumors about his transfer.
Vidic announced the news through a statement on United’s official site and mentioned he was not interested in playing for another Premier League team, opening his decision to move overseas.
Vidic stated: It’s the last year of my contract and I have had eight wonderful years here. My time at this great club will always rank as the best years of my career.
“I never could have imagined winning 15 trophies and I will certainly never forget that fantastic night in Moscow, memories that will live with me and the fans forever. However, I have decided that I will move on at the end of this season. I want to challenge myself again and try to make the best of myself in the coming years.
“I’m not considering staying in England as the only club I ever wanted to play for here is Manchester United and I was lucky enough to be part of this club for so many years. I’ve got a few options to move on and I will choose the right one for me and for my family.
“I am now going to focus all my efforts on playing for Manchester United and do the best I can for the team until the end of the season. I hope this stops any further speculation about my future.”
However the decision did not get any comments from the manager David Moyes, who is struggling to get his pieces right. His team is currently on seventh position in a league which it won by 11 points last May under Alex Ferguson.
Vidic, who was first spotted at united after his arrival for Spartak Moscow in 2006 and has been a key player in the club’s defense squad. He was well known for his combination with Ferdinand, as one of the finest partnership the club as ever seen.
Patrice Evra, who joined United alongside Vidic in the 2006 January transfer window, is among those who are linked with a move.
