“I Vowed Not To Work Under Mourinho Ever After”: Eto’o

Eto’o has admitted that his relationship with the current Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho was very “tense”, but insists that he has a key role to play in Chelsea this season. “All tensions have been repaired and I have nothing against Mourinho now” said Eto’o. He had earlier said that he would rather “sell groundnuts” than “play for a pathetic team like Chelsea”.

His anger was mainly directed towards Mourinho when he was managing Chelsea a few years ago.” Our relationship was very tense when we worked with each other in Inter. God knows what to do. Jose is a friend now and a boss. I was probably wrong when I was making quick judgments about him. I am glad that I am a part of the Chelsea outfit and a great team. Mourinho has a clear idea of the season and has clear-cut plans are roles for each one of us. He means business. He is very straight-forward when he talks.” said Eto’o

The Cameroon international was also question behind the motivation to move to the Russian side- Anzhi Makhachkala. The 32 year old denied his interest in money. He constantly stressed on the fact that he wanted to concentrate on his game and looks to improve his skills.

“Mourinho is a very good manager on the field and off of it as well. That is rare for a manager. He is one of the best. When I realized that there was an opportunity in Chelsea, I was interested in moving to the club as it is one of the best in the league. I want to perform very well in Chelsea, this stint. I am willing to work really hard and I am hungry for trophies and would remain so till the end of my career. I would be playing with established players in Chelsea. That is a new challenge for me. It is a different team and the fighting spirit in Chelsea is the main thing I am looking forward to” said Eto’o.
