In the beginning Viacom had problems in understanding the working of internet video, but today, along with some tech savvy people, a confirmation of its tie up with Twitter’s Amplify program was announced. With the MTV video Music Awards dated on 25th August, Viacom will show off their video highlights of its channels which include MTV, CMT, VH1, TV land, Spike Comedy Central and Nickelodeon etc… on twitter. Though Viacom and Twitter receive more revenue, users can re-watch those slip-ups of celebrity if needed. The duration of their partnership is not yet revealed, but we hope that the VMA broadcast will help the deal to stay longer.
Viacom and Twitter became partners to deliver social video campaigns for Marquee Shows and Events. The launch of their partnership can be viewed on twitter. The MTV video Music awards air live from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on 25th August, Sunday.
Jeff Lucas, Head of sales, Music and Entertainment, Viacom Media Network says that the trending topics of Viacom network creation can be viewed by all and through the partnership, marketers can insert their brands easily into the torrent of fan activity and engage around the twitter network.
Adam Bain, President of Global revenue at Twitter, claims that Twitter Amplify will help the Viacom to connect with people across screens and tap into social conversation on twitter with complimentary TV video clips across all devices. Twitter helps people in sharing their happy moments and with Viacom they can also share those events which take place in TV.
The Viacom network shows will have a good significance on twitter as 2012 MTV video music award had most of the tweets. Last year, this show alone had 14.7 million tweets and other top tweets include the One Direction won Best Pop video and Taylor Swift’s performance.
