Robin van Persie claimed some of his teammates occupy the favorite spots he likes to operate, following his sides loss against Olympiakos in champions League.
Persie was disappointed with United’s below expected effort which resulted in a shocking 2-0 defeat against Olympiakos.
When asked by a Dutch Broadcaster after the match Persie replied:
“My teammates are sometimes occupying the spaces I want to play in,” he said. “And when I see that it makes it difficult for me to come to those spaces as well. So that forces me to adjust my runs, based on the position of my fellow players. And unfortunately, they’re often playing in my zones. I think that’s a shame.”
The Dutchman left a chance to grab an away goal and United struggled to create any other opportunities.
“I rushed that shot,” he said. “That’s a shame because I don’t get a lot of chances so when you get one, you have to score.”
Persie’s statement did relive the pressure form Moyes head, on a night when luck did not support them. However, the striker said United’s poor start to the year, in which they have lost six of their 12 fixtures so far, is as much down to misfortune as the players and staff.
“Moyes is working hard at it, and so are we,” he said. “Sometimes we play well, but not all the time. We don’t have luck on our side. It’s easy to point the finger at someone, but I’m not like that. We have to do better ourselves.”
