Tom Clancy Is No More

Tom Clancy has made a sizeable impact on the movie world, be it high-tension military or political fiction. He passed away at the age of 66.

His literary career was of course, a big success with over $50 million sales. The Baltimore native got his start in a very different industry. Tom Clancy initially worked as an insurance salesman. His passion turned towards researching for American military history. As a result, the book that came out of it turned out to be the first of his many bestsellers. ‘The Hunt For Red October’ hit the bookshelves in 1984.

Jack Ryan, Clancy’s signature hero was introduced in that book. The adventures spanned through several titles, including Patriot games, Present Danger and The Sum Of All Fears. All these books were converted to movies, with famous actors like Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck starring as Ryan.

Ryan wasn’t the only person whom Clancy created. Other books of his like Red Storm Rising, Without Remorse, Debt Of Honor, Rainbow Six were bestsellers too. Most of his stories were made into video games. He has also co-authored many books about American military campaigns. Clancy’s latest book and his last one, ‘Jack Ryan Adventure Command Authority’ would be published in December.
