Thierry Henry isn’t content with playing alongside Robert Pires, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Viera. He has revealed his interest to play with Ozil at Arsenal sometime in the future.
Henry was part of the Arsenal squad for eight years and spearheaded their attack for one of the club’s most successful periods in Premier League history.
The Frenchman feels that Ozil is an extremely valuable teammate and that he would have loved playing alongside him.
“He (Ozil) reminds me of Robert Pires. He shares the ball. He is capable of finding a quick guy, a target striker. He has time on his side as well. The composure to the Arsenal team is primarily attributed to him. Sometimes, it seems like he is playing in his garden”, he said.
The legend from Arsenal feels that Ozil has made a mark as one of the best playmakers in the world. He does not find it surprising that Arsenal has picked up their form after having signed him for 42.5 million pounds.
“I think he creates a lot of chances as a midfielder. He backed his skill and the results are there for everyone to see”, he added.
Oliver Giroud has been benefitting from most of Ozil’s creative passes. Ozil has played an important part in three of Giroud’s 10 gials across all competitions.
Arsenal’s smart buy has been a result of good scouting skills and Ozil’s statistical records in Real Madrid. He had around 24 assists to his name for Madrid across all competitions last season.
Ozil is also fortunate to play alongside some of the best attackers in Europe, both and club and country level. Undoubtedly, it would have been a treat to watch Ozil and Henry playing alongside each other. The partnership would have brought nightmares to most of the opponent’s defenders.
The two players are likely to represent two different eras of Arsenal and teaming up as one would be a dream for any football fan, irrespective of his support to any club.
