Sunderland saw Steven Fletcher get back to the scoresheet as he fired the Black Cats to a draw.
Sunderland came from two goals down to get level with Cardiff. Fletcher came on only in the second half and helped them earn a vital point.
It has been four games unbeaten for Sunderland as they strive to stay out of the relegation zone.
Steven Fletcher was delighted to get on the Sunderland scoresheet once again as he aims to fire the Black Cats to safety.
Fletcher came on at half-time at Cardiff on Saturday and notched a late strike as the Black Cats came from two goals down to earn a point.
Gus Poyet’s team are two points from safety currently. Fletcher feels that his team has a very good chance of avoiding relegation this season. “We just need o keep it going. Our home form has been good. We have beaten Manchester City, and that has given us huge confidence,” he said.
“It’s very tight down there. There are only a few points in it so we’re not adrift. If we can keep picking up points like this then we’ll be fine,” he added.
Fletcher is likely to start the game against Aston Villa on New Year’s Day and could be playing along with Jozy Altidore.
“I’ve not scored for a while so it was nice to get on the scoresheet. It was good to show the gaffer that me and Jozy can play together. Hopefully he takes that on board and we can get together on Wednesday,” he said.
