Steam Has Announced Its Own Linux-Based Operating System

Now we can enjoy living room gaming PCs on SteamOS, an operating system based on Linux designed by Valve. It basically combines Steam’s preeminent video game digital distribution platform with a user interface designed for TVs, all present on top of the Linux platform, and it will also be free. “It will be available soon as a free stand-alone operating system for living room machines,” said the company.

Soon we will see the triple-A game titles that will run natively on SteamOS in 2014, as there are so many companies and developers which are already on board with Linux and SteamOS boxes will also have a workaround for the huge existing library of Windows games: in-home streaming.

The company believes that they can improve audio and reduce controller latency, and can manage to improve graphics performance after working at an the operating system level.
