A special service, once again launched by Samsung is having its first rollout in Korea. The special surprise is with the launch of Samsung Wallet which is alternative to Apple’s Passbook. Like the usual trend of Samsung, the company does not take the help of any media to spread the word of its new product. It was the Mobile World congress, held in February that unveiled the new product. This service has been launched keeping in mind the convenience of the customers.
It was announced in Korean states via Engadget the Samsung Wallet has been made available especially for Galaxy users. Users of Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S II HD LTE and Galaxy Note 10.1 can opt for it. It can store your credit cards details that will make it easy for you to make online transactions with the merchants. You will be able to verify your payments by using a One-time password and a PIN. It has been said that by the company that the device is being supported by about 30,000 retailers in the world.
Future plans says that it is also planned by the company to add a support to the four different type of passbook like services, that includes membership cards, Tickets, coupons and other services that is a showcase in the earlier phases of the year. Even NFC payments are being supported on time but there is no idea on the other kind of services. It is not known when the services will be launched outside Korea. It can be said that Samsung Wallet is kept under a test now and will be expanded further.
One such feature that is similar to the Passbook by Apple is that the new Samsung application is expected to deliver location and time based push notification that will be able to depict you are nearby to particular location or card and can use a Wallet card. Boarding passes and membership cards can all be updated on a real time basis. Samsung wallet also allows the other service to feed on the payments into them. One such app is an open API.
