Sony is bringing its latest Smartphone Xperia Z series, named Xperia Z Ultra that lies between Smartphone and tablet. The new Xperia Z Ultra has 6.4-inch display with 1080p screen resolution. The screen has Qualcomm’s new and greatest mobile processor, the 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 along with 4G LTE connectivity.
It weighs just 212 grams and has a sleek body of 6.5 mm. This device was also titled as thinnest phone with high end specifications. The phone has 16 GB in-built storage, of which 11 GB is user accessible. The microSD slot can accommodate an extra 64 GB if required. Sony has come up with a battery pack up to 3000 mAh. The phone is also packed up with a pentaband HSPA radio, ensuring the global model will play nice on AT&T’s 3G service, at least, when it launches later this year.
The device offers 1,920 x 1,080 screen which is wider, richer color gamut at 6.4 inches to debut with Sony’s Triluminos tech. It employs Sony’s X-Reality for mobile technology to improve the picture reproduction and sharpness. It has elements to resist water attack. To spice up the features, it includes handwriting recognition and tends to work with any graphite pencil, capacitive stylus or metal pen with tip diameter of over 1mm. The phone is expected to launch in UK with a £21 voucher to use in its movie, music and PlayStation mobile hubs, as well as a month’s free access to Music Unlimited.
Users can download all other mini-apps to make the device friendlier.
Like Sony’s existing mini-apps, you’ll be able to jot down notes and sketches on top of other apps, including during calls, which could make it a tempting device for business-types. Imaging chops come in the form of an 8-megapixel Exmor RS sensor and a front-facing 2-megapixel camera, while the Xperia Z Ultra will be running on Google’s very latest Android iteration, 4.2, a step up from what’s currently installed on our Xperia Z. It will launch globally from Q3 2013 in white, black and purple colours and it will be given in hands shortly.
It has been reported by BBC that Sony will launch its new device by July in parts of Asia, followed by Europe in September
