Sony is preparing to reveal the final piece of its PS4 hardware strategy at TGS by showcasing a PlayStation-branded virtual reality head-mounted display, CVG has learned.
Firstly it was planned that the headset will reveal at Gamescom but plans fell through at the eleventh hour.The topic that whether the PS4 device should be pitched as a key differentiator for the console or a non-essential add-on is still in play.
According to CVG and Eurogamer’s sources, one developer said Evolution Studios is already working to incorporate the VR headset with DriveClub, Sony’s latest first-party racing sim and a PS4 launch title. The studio is reportedly working to simulate a vehicle’s cockpit view.
In January, a headset named Sony’s 3D HMZ headset was revealed at TGS. The developer claims that its similar to that.
Today Sony announced that TGS lineup will include more than 50 games across PS3, PS4, PS Vita and PS Mobile.The further details will be coming soon.
“You know, we’re Sony, so we have lots of different things and different ideas in R&D,” he said when asked if the corporation was building a VR headset.”When it come to researching things, we are doing a lot of things that we can’t talk about.”
