SONY Reveals Next-gen Blu-Ray Discs

Sony has recently announced a next-gen development of its Blu-ray format. The new archival Disc medium has been designed to offer up to 1TB of storage on one disc over time, according to the reveal. The Sony’s official website claims that the manufacturer confirmed that the first wave of archival Disc Blu-rays will come out somewhere in the summer of 2015, and is going to offer 300GB of storage. Sony hopes to extend this limit to 500GB and then to a mammoth 1TB in future models of the medium. Blu-Rays presently offers 50GB of storage. The archival Disc Blu-rays were developed as a part of a collaboration between Sony and Panasonic, with a view to deliver a next-generation storage device format for the semi-permanent storage of data.
