Small Screen Windows 8 Tablet Blinked Up On Amazon

Rumours are already making rounds in the market that Microsoft will unveil two small screen tablet devices that will run Windows 8, in June at its Build Developer Conference, and now one of the devices has already been exposed on Amazon.com, which was swiftly removed from its shelves within a rather short time. The model was clearly marked as Acer Iconia W3-810-1600 with 32 GB memory. Smaller tablet with Windows 8 is something that is sure to attract significant attention, as till now it is only the 10-inch tablets that run Windows 8. The operating system from Microsoft was engineered before the shorter versions of the tablets like Kindle Fire, and Nexus 7 were out in the market. So this Iconic one is going to be the pioneer to introduce Windows 8 in 8-inch.

Since the release of the first Windows 8, Microsoft has implemented a few crucial changes and has introduced more flexibility to the OS. The hardware specifications to run the OS has recently been dropped to the level which supports the use of the platform by smaller tablets, this was a clear indication that Microsoft is planning to come up with smaller tablets that will run Windows 8.

According to the details, as appeared in the Amazon, the processor of the device is a 1.5GHz Apple A4 processor, the same chip used in the basic iPad, whereas PC World claims that the W3 tablet is powered by a duo- core Atom processor, with a display resolution of 1280×800. It weighs 1.1 pound and is priced at $379.99 on Amazon.com. The 1280×800 display, takes advantage of reduced screen size, whereas the x86processor confirms that it can run the full-fledged version of Windows 8, and not the Windows RT.

The basic theme behind designing the small screened tablets is to make the technology cheaper. Android tablets have been able to provide a cheaper price only because Google’s licence policy, which is quite different for Microsoft. It is rumoured that Microsoft is planning to change their policies and reduce their charges in order to facilitate lower pricing. The pricing at which it was listed at Amazon vows enough about the policy changes at Microsoft. However, any official release date of the device was not published.
