Samsung announced, today, that it will hold Samsung developers conference from October 27-29 at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco.
Google has its own I/O developers conference dating back to 2008. Apple has been holding its World Wide Developers Conference for over two decades. Microsoft also has Build, its developer focused event that is held in San Francisco in June. Following its competitors’ league, Samsung will hold its first developers conference this October.
Interested persons can enter their email on the conference’s promo site. According to a Samsung representative, Ars Technica, the developers conference will be cross product and cross platform.
The Wall Street Journal reported in February that Google was perturbed over Samsung’s growing stronghold on the Android smartphone ecosystem. The plan to hold an independent developer conference, therefore, is seen to be a sign of increasing tension between Samsung and Google.
Its also being reported that Samsung will be selling smartphones later this year in emerging markets that will run on Tizen. Tizen is an operating system backed by The Linux Foundation, partially funded by Samsung and Intel.
