Registration or the so called enrolment procedure for GDC 2014 has opened, with three talks declared for the March conference.
Ubisoft Toronto lead game designer Laurent Malville will present a talk entitled Super-Spy Crash Course: Teaching Players in Splinter Cell: Blacklist. The presentation will specialise in a replacement approach to tutorials which make core mechanics accessible and obvious right from the beginning of a game.
Gareth Griffiths, Activision Blizzard user testing lead, will discuss the difficulties and rewards of Playtesting with Children in a presentation called Child’s Play: Playtesting with Children in the World of Skylanders.
In Building a BioWare Story: Producing Choice and Consequence, BioWare development manager Ian Mitchell and producer Melanie Faulknor will bring up Dragon Age’s non-linear production cycle. These talks are the first of hundreds expected to be detailed over the next few months. GDC 2014 takes place at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, California from March 17 through 21. It is the 28th such event taking place. Registration is currently open.
