Verizon introduced its Instant video streaming and DVD rental service onto the set-top boxes of the ROKU family. It announced that users equipped with recent Roku players (2, 3, HD, LT or Streaming Stick) can avail streaming of about 5,500 movies and reserve physical discs (680 titles) at Redbox’s signature kiosks. The service is run at $8 a month and is $9 for Blu-rays.
Verizon offers a free trial period of a month so that users can check out the new Roku Channel Store before subscribing it.
This adds up to the Redbox’s existing stable supported platforms, which include Android,the Xbox 360, LG and Samsung smart TVs.
