Polytron’s transparent smartphone protoype has been released, and the actual phone might be on the market in the near future. This will also be the world’s first transparent smartphone.
The phone has been built using the Polyvision Privacy Glass, and has electrical wires which are not even visible at first sight. The Polyvision Privacy Glass, can become completely transparent from a cloudy-white state, when electricity is applied. According to Polytron, “The liquid crystal molecules line up, the incident light passes through and Polyvision looks clear.” The company believes that it can be used to build a fully-functioning smartphone, maybe by the end of this year.
In the device, only the battery, camera and the memory card are visible. If the manufacturers are successful, people will soon have access to a phone that will make them feel like they’re Tony Stark. Polytron has also built a transparent USB memory drive.
