According to BlueBox’s Chief Technology Officer, Jerff Forristal discovered that opening out Android’s Master Key makes the device 99% vulnerable of being hacked. It vulnerability can be like, the hacker can modify the apk’s code without breaking the app’s Cryptographic signature and turn the trusted application into a malicious Trojan. This number is really massive.
This risk is higher when you install the application provided by the Device’s manufacturer, that elevates its permission to a higher level. So, they can read your documents, SMS, E-Mail and even your own stored credentials. Based on the blog post, Bluebox has known about the bug since at least February, when it “responsibly disclosed” all the relevant technical details to Google.
