Ouya, The 78th Fastest Android Device In The World

Ouya, an android-based console, largely associated with kickstarter, hasn’t even hit the markets yet but it has already found a place in Futuremark’s benchmark ranking of mobile devices at #78.

The Ouya console has a 1.7 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU and Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, ULP Ge-Force (520 MHz) with a performance rating of 4010 by Futuremark. It’s rank isn’t that bad, but the console itself might be a convenient one. Ouya is a 1080p console that even supports streaming video, and you don’t have to buy a game to try it. If you try it, and like it, you can buy it. No CDs, since it downloads the games. And it’s just for $99. Their partners include Plex, FLixster, Twitch.tv, Crunchyroll and many more.

The ranking isn’t too great though, as it comes right after HTC One X+, ZTE Grand X and Sony Xperia 5, which aren’t even new. The Xiaomi MI-2s came in first with a rating of 11327, followed by the Sharp Aquos Phone Zeta with 10798. And also, as compared to all the new Android devices, which may have a higher price than Ouya but are also faster and more advanced, Ouya is going to have a rough time proving it’s worth and keeping up with all the smartphones.
