Microsoft has recently ditched the planned initiative of DRM for it’s next generation console, the Xbox One. It was originally billed in order to have a period check of the instances after a gap of every 24 hours. All this happened with a limited sale of used games, region locking and trading. The company has drifted itself back to the traditional approach of the console.
Their recent changes led to a few people hoping that Microsoft might have other changes in store for the Xbox One. There is a slight hope for the company to reduce the Xbox One price. This has been pointed out by Michael Pachter who said that this is going to happen if Xbox One had enough of sales during its launch. However, it is still a big questioned (whether it will happen or) and there is a big NO to it. Marc Whitten, chief product officer of Xbox said that the company has no such plans at present. As stated in CNET that there will not be any reduction in price in Xbox One.
Pachter is focused on the value that will be delivered by the company in one day. He is excited with the launch of Xbox One that is expected to bring in more value. The reason for the value of the console is the inclusion of Kinect in the console. The main competitor of Microsoft, that is Sony, will be selling its PlayStation 4 for $399. However, the prices for the console of Microsoft have been fixed to $499. The difference of $100 between the consoles of the two competitors is quite remarkable.
In one of his announcements Marc Whitten also said that the prevalent features in Xbox one will not be found anywhere. He gave two examples of the features, which are the motion sensing of Kinect and a controller that will be detecting voice. The company has made plans to keep Kinect on and will have no plans for the decision to change. The company has also made attempts to diffuse its privacy concerns. There were complaints that the system will be listening to a single command of voice and that is “Xbox One”.
