New Windows Phone 8 – Windows Phone Blue

Microsoft is in dire need of a Software Development Engineer. The listing by Microsoft for the same on their site is as follows:-
“This is a great time to join as we’re completing our current release are getting ready for our next release targeting the holiday of this year and we’re chartered with keeping the momentum for Windows Phone by bringing new killer devices and delightful user experiences.”

The above listing has raised several questions amongst the Microsoft buffs. Everyone is keen to know as to what the tech giants have in store now. It is believed that this holiday season will witness the release of a new Windows 8 phone. The code name for this phone is Windows Phone Blue. There is no clarity whether the tech giants would use the same name during the release of the phone or not. But then there is a long time for that. While working the Windows Phone Blue, simultaneously Microsoft is working on two smaller updates too. These updates are currently called- GDR2 and GDR3 and will reach the users much before the Windows Phone Blue (somewhere near mid-May). These softwares will fix the bugs like the one that is eating up native storage in a few models.

The listing had suggested that Microsoft plans to launch killer new devices. Though Microsoft is yet not very clear about what these ‘killer new devices’ could be. But some reports hint that these “killer new devices” may feature 1080p displays. Furthermore, reports have noted that several user-interface enhancements and kernel updates will be included to provide a better experience.

Microsoft’s senior marketing manager Greg Sullivan spoke to the reporters and said that they would focus on Windows Phone 8 and building out it’s functionality. He was also quick to add “We’re going to have an upgrade path going forward. Windows Phone 8 can evolve. We have an architecture that enables portability and is fundamentally hardware independent. As the market evolves and customer requirements demand it, we’ll evaluate options.”, said Sullivan.
