Ed Helms would be trying his best to imitate Leslie Nielsen’s classic cock-up friendly cop Frank Drebin. Paramount is planning to reboot the ‘Naked Gun’ franchise.
Night at the Museum scribes, R.Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon are in the talks to write the script for this movie. They had earlier written for the Baywatch movie and Rent a Ghost. Guinea Pigging, which would be directed by Mitch Hurwitz ( Arrested Development) was announced recently. The script for that movie would be written by the two of them as well.
Very few details have been divulged about this movie, bit Drebin fans would be hoping that Helms does not even think about colouring his hair white or bringing a beaver onto the set for absolutely no reason.
There is no word about Jim Abrahams, David Zucker and Jerry Zucker and whether they would be directly involved in the film at all. Being the creators of the original TV show, ‘Police Squad!’ and the ‘Naked Gun’ trilogy as well, it is surprising that there isn’t much talk about them.
The original series would bring fond memories to a lot of people. The important question is, ‘How will this movie make them feel?’ We can’t say for sure that the Naked Gun would remain the same without Nielsen being brought back to the table. Post your views in the comment box below.
