Microsoft’s MSN TV To Be Shut Down

Microsoft has declared that MSN TV, the company’s own TV service, is going to be shut down this year on September 30th.

The company has sent emails regarding this to it’s customers. MSN TV was known as WebTV before Microsoft bought it in 2001 and changed the brand name. The package included a wireless keyboard and remote, 25″ phone cord, 6″ audio/video cable, telephone line T-splitter and a power supply. MSN TV has also been quite useful in the development of Xbox, and the Mediaroom-which is used by AT&T for U-verse.

“The Web has continued to evolve at a breathtaking pace, and there are many new ways to access the Internet. Accordingly, we have made the difficult decision to end the MSN TV service,” Microsoft said in a statement.

As per the instructions, customers have to copy favorites and Scrapbook photos and transfer them to SkyDrive. If you use your MSN TV e-mail address, you will have to change to Microsoft’s Outlook.com if you want to continue using it.
