‘Man of Tai Chi’ has got a fresh trailer which is making rounds in the internet for the past few hours. Keanu Reeves’ directorial debut is expected to be kick started with a blockbuster movie which would impress both the critics and audiences, alike. Micheal G. Cooney is the screenwriter for the movie and is best known for having been part of video games like Resident Evil 6 and Lost Planet 2. The movie almost looks like a cinematic version of the legendary fighting game. It almost seems like the movie being novelized. However, differences like Reeves saying ‘We have a contender’ and ‘Finish him!’ are interesting tit-bits in the movie.
Despite the movie having only a half-baked plot, the film’s main pluses are the fight scenes which are on par with the actors like Simon Yam, Iko Uwais and Tiger Hu Chen. Having been a part of the stunt team in ‘The Matrix’ trilogy and ‘Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon’; Yam was part of ‘Ip Man’ from 2008. Gareth Evans featured a simple story with amazing choreography; it bears a strong resemblance to ‘Man of Tai Chi’. It is interesting that the trailer focuses only on the story and leaves the visual scenes which would create a false impression about the story of the movie.
The film’s new poster is exceptionally good as well and many wondering that a person’s imagination could be that good. Reeve’s character is supposed to a very strong one and is shown in a fighting stance in the poster. With the posters giving a fair representation and idea of the movie, the film is gradually picking up in production. Reeves would be the best person to direct himself as he has a perfect idea of how the scene should be shown to an audience.
The film hits VOD on September 27th and is expected to release in U.S theaters on the 1st of November.
