Andre Villas-Boas (Tottenham manager) recently commented about the out of bounds rising prices of homegrown players in English football in comparison to top Premier League clubs. He insists clubs should look for new talents instead of paying more for local stars.
This season, for recruiting overseas stars like Roberto Soldado, Paulino, Nacer Chadili and Etienne Capoue, Spurs spent almost £60 million.
Meanwhile, he talked about turning down approaches from a couple of clubs for leaving Tottenham this summer, being loyal to the North-London club as the arrival of new Sporting Director, Franco Baldini and Daniel convinced him to stay.
Villas-Boas confirmed Gareth Bale, last season’s star will be missing the club’s first 3 games in the new season, as he’s linked with moving to Real Madrid.
