The recent slogan of choice by MTV “My iPad wants my MTV” has highly replaced the old slogan of 1980 which was “I want my MTV”. Viacom has currently decided to launch a new series of TV apps so that people can enjoy the TV contents in their mobile devices though he is quite concerned that till now many of the TV shows are limited to those people who pay regularly for TV. On Thursday, Viacom is about to launch his new app for MTV and MTV 2 for the effective use on iPhones and iPads.
This year they will also come up with other apps for Androids and Xbox. This app is going to act as “second screen” entertainment like the past apps of MTV Watch with and Co-star of VH1. This current app is highly useful for browsing photos, answering trivia, accessing extra videos, looping in social commentary along with on-demand show streaming in the devices. This app also act as “first screen” entertainment for iPads and iPhone devices.
It can be expected that the users will be very much impressed by the new launch app of MTV by phasing out the old ones. This recent app of MTV is almost similar to the HBO Go App by Time Warner which is useful in combining the on-demand videos with interactive shows. Kristin Frank, the executive vice-president of Viacom music and LOGO group content, said that this new MTV app will go further as three apps has been combined in one.
Viacom is also experimenting a bit with the new app for making it much shorter, louder and shareable. Frank clearly said that this MTV app will bring a revolutionary trend of “TV Everywhere” by which people can access their favorite TV shows in their mobile devices at any point of time as per their convenience. He declared this fact for bringing more value to the distributors as well as to the TV payers.
At this statement of Frank, the cable distributors have become quite worried as it can affect their cable subscription revenue. It has been declared that TV subscribers now can watch the full length episodes of their favorite TV shows within their same TV service package. MTV has also revealed his official tie up and add sponsorship by Pepsi. MTV has also decided to provide one episode of every show without authentication.
