If you are still young enough to have somebody telling you to shut off the console and go to bed, remember this story the next time it happens.
12-year-old Jaxxyn Wood, was up till 3:30am playing video games when he “smelled something really bad, like Legos on fire”. What he smelled was actually the family’s ice-maker aflame, with smoke beginning to fill the corridor of his house. Initially, he tried to put out the fire on his own but when it didn’t work, Jaxxyn raised the alarm, waking his family so that they could evacuate the house. The fire eventually spread from the room to the “dining areas”, and there was major smoke damage to the rest of the property. Jaxxyn’s actions probably saved their lives, and prevented severe damage to the house, as there were no smoke detectors installed in their house.
