Naismith Hall of Fame inducted one more person into it. Gary Payton, the one-time Laker was a part of it. It was only last week when he was added to the Hall of Fame. He averaged 16.3 points and 6.7 assists. He was the 1996 Defensive Player of the Year. With such credible achievements, it is no surprise that he is a part of the illustrious members in the Hall of Fame. Payton made three Finals appearances. He eventually won his first and last championship with the Miami Heat in 2006. He is considered one of the best players of the decade and a veteran of the game. The style he brings to the game is commendable as well. He is one of the role models in the sport and a player who inspires many youngsters to excel at it as well.
Robert Horry’s chances are also pretty high to be a part of the Hall of Fame. He is another former Laker who has contributed a lot to the game. He was also eligible for the Hall of Fame. Although he isn’t in the same league as Chris Webber, Anfemee Hardaway, Alonzo Mourning or even Eddie Jones, Horry is one of the best clutch performers of the game. His role as a player wasn’t ordinary at all. He has the fourth most championships in NBA history with seven. He is also one of the two players to win with three different teams. One does not come across such accomplishments too often. To be inducted into the ‘Hall of Fame’ deserves appreciation from the entire sport fraternity.
Superstars like Vince Carter, Allen Iverson, Tracy McGrady believed to make it to the ‘Hall of Fame’ in future. Horry deserves special recognition as a team player who has played his role to perfection and to his complete potential. He has added to the legacies of Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan and Hakeem Olajuwon.
