Kjetil Haug , the Norwegian teenager is ‘really honoured’ to be compared with Peter Schmeichel after his recent trial at Manchseter United.
Haug spent some quality time with the Premier League winners last month, and he has also been linked with the likes of Everton, Arsenal and Manchester City.
The 15-year-old’s style of goal keeping has prompted many to compare him to former United keeper Schmeichel. He is a self-confessed Red Devils fan. He is not sure whether he will move to Old Trafford.
“It is indeed a special moment to be compared to one of the best keepers in the world ever,” Haug said. “It is of great and I am really honoured. No doubt, he is one of my biggest role models. I’ll be extra careful not to say much about the similarities between the two of us, but I must concede that there are some. My physical style of play is similar to that of Schmeichel’s. However, I have a long way to go before I can reach his level”, he said.
He trained with Manchester United and got a lot of advice from Lindegaard. “He suggested that a transfer may happen. We had lunch with other United players and David Moyes. He sat next to me. It was special. The most important thing is the sporting challenge and what the club has to offer me”, he added.
