By collating with moist of the Mobile Tech companies, this site hopes to connect the 5 billion people in the world who do not yet have Internet access. By forming a global partnership with a group of tech companies, Mark Zuckerberg aims to fetch affordable Internet access to the world.

The social network has united with the companies like Ericsson, Nokia, and Samsung to form Internet.org, as announced by the Facebook chief executive on Tuesday, which aims to deliver the Internet to the 5 billion people in the world without access.

Zuckerberg said in a statement that, everything Facebook has done has been about giving all people around the world the power to connect although; there are huge barriers in developing countries to linking and joining the knowledge economy. To overcome challenges, that include making internet access available to those who cannot currently afford it; because of which Internet.org brings together a global partnership that will work towards it.

To provide affordable access, like making mobile connectivity more affordable is the most important goal of this project. The Internet.org group plans to make more efficient use of data which would held the dramatic reduction in the amount of data needed to power the Internet and run applications.

The group also consists of MediaTek, Qualcomm, and Opera, as they plan to marshal to aid wireless operators and device manufacturers so as to fetch Internet access to people who are not connected, and accounts to roughly two-thirds of the world’s population. By focusing on a small number of goals, the group hopes to achieve its target.

Key for initial success seems to be focusing on mobile access. According to a report released by Kleiner Perkins; Mobile traffic is growing pretty fast on a global platform that in some places it has already gone beyond desktop traffic. To lower the cost of access, the group is planning to back new business models and offer incentives to device manufacturers, mobile operators, developers, and other businesses. For making it accessible to everybody, the group also plans to boost the number of languages enabled for use on mobile devices.

At least six in 10 smartphone users go on social networks with their phones as per the survey done by Pew on 12 different countries. New users from developing nations would be attracted to Facebook due to this initiative. As per the reports from a Pew Research Center that released in 2012 found that, even though Internet access is often scarce in developing areas, people are more likely to join a social-networking site when they get on the Web.
