Hugh Jackman Ready For Chappie, Talks About His New Musical

Hugh Jackman must really be enjoying the break between his projects. He has been on a promotional spree for his film, ‘Prisoners’. Hugh Jackman revealed that he had taken a role in the film, ‘Chappie’. The film is directed by Neill Blomkamp. and it is a robo-action comedy.

“I am a part of Neill’s new film,” called Chappie. “We will be shooting most portions of the movie in Johannesburg. I would be there for a couple of weeks at the beginning of next year,” he said.

The titular droid will be voiced by Sharlto Copley- the droid is a sophisticated machine which is stolen by two gangsters. They look to use the robot for criminal activities. Eugene Khumbanyiwa and Elysium’s Jose Pablo Cantillo are also part of the film. It was written by Blomkamp and Terri Tatchell.

There has been no official confirmation of Hugh Jackman’s role yet.

Jackman also spoke about his stalled plans for a musical in Broadyway. It is based on Houdini, but the actor still has his doubts about it. Speaking about performers, a new film titled, “The Greatest Showman On Earth” is a biopic on PT Barnum’s life. “I thought it would be easy to be actively involved in it. If I have to be honest, new musicals are very difficult to perform. However, recently the trend has changed and there is a real interest in musicals”, he added.
