All of have observed the recent trend of actresses like Anna Faris and Toni Collette trying their hand at television. It seems to be the medium wherein women could work and play interesting roles. Halle Berry has been in demand for quite some time to play a role in the small-screen. Seems like she is ready now.
She would star in ‘Extant’, a Steven Spielberg’s summer series for CBS. The network is committed to a 13 episode straight. She has signed a two-year production deal with CBS.
Nina Tassler, CBS Entertainment president, commented on Berry’s new role.
“She is the type of an award-winning actress, which one dreams of collaborating with for an project like ‘Extant’. Her ability and talent to completely immerse her into every single performance has created roles which appealed to audiences worldwide.
It is a big thing for CBS to have Halle be a part of her first television series. Berry would be playing an astronaut. Female astronauts are in vogue, with the recently released ‘Gravity’ and now ‘Extant’.
“I am always on the look-out for amazing roles. For almost five month a year, I have a chance of living with and playing an intelligent and vulnerable woman. And for the rest of the year, I continue to look out for other roles that are as deep as this one. I have found great company in CBS. Nina Tassler, Les Moonves and the supremely talented Steven Spielberg top the list. Their vision and outlook to the story is unparalleled”, Halle Berry said.
In fact, Berry isn’t new to television. She was a part of ‘Being Dorothy Dandridge’ and Oprah Winfrey’s ‘Their Eyes were watching God’. She was nominated for both Emmy and Golden globe for her performance.
