The CEO of Yahoo, Marissa Mayer is planning out a new deal worth rupees $1 billion. She is planning to buy Tumblr with about $1 billion. This deal will vault yahoo in the league of Social Media. She is planning to close the deal with David Karp, the CEO of Tumblr. The deal with between the two CEOs made it news worth breaking out among the users. The talks of the deal were leaked out too earlier by a proud site AllThingsD, on yahoo sources.

This site took the responsibility in spreading the news of about the figures of $1 billion which is was later on contradicted by AdWeek which later on cited that the figure is supposed to rise up further and will be more than $1 billion. It was just a figure under discussion. These sites said that the expected valuation figures that are in the news will be cited by Tumblr in the next funding round. Marissa Mayer is known for the changes from the time she is occupant of the position of CEO. This is sparkling news revealed that she is interested in the deal.

It is also expected that Tumblr as well as the 107 million blogs of the social media will add about billions of page views in it. The 107 million micro blogs will all be a part of Mayer’s hoard. This deal has the power have making Yahoo bounce back to its original appeal. This is what is lacking with Yahoo and is high on the agenda of the CEO. She targeted Tumblr because it was revealed by the David Karp that per Tumblr visitor spends about 14 minutes on the page. David Karp also said that she Tumblr users stay longer in the pages rather than Facebook users.

The question arises now is, whether David Karp interested in the deal? No doubt it is a good one with a high valuation but Tumblr also has better ways to ahead as a social media. It can do it without Yahoo’s help. There were certain wrong steps that were placed in the startup phase of the company but is now growing and surviving as a weed.
