Goosebumps, the famous family horror book series by R.L.Stine, has been making the news a lot as of late ever since Sony snapped them in 2008. The film version of the book has not yet been materialized although a lot of talks are going on. With Jack Black expected to star in the movie, the producers need to start filming quickly as Black’s dates would not be free for a long time.
Black is planning to take up the role of a the author who is terrified and freaked out when the horror creations simply jump off the page and scare the living daylights out of the author. If the deal with Black is made, it would reunite him with Shark Tale and Gulliver’s Travels director, Rob Letterman. It suggests that a lot of CG creatures would be on their way in the film.
The books are one of the most popular series among children and adolescents. It has only been overtaken by the magic wizard as the protagonist- Harry Potter. Larry Karaszewkski and Scott Alexander have taken a crack at making ‘Goosebumps’ into a move. The most recent recruit for the movie is Jack The Giant Slayer’s Darren Lemke.
Neal.H.Moritz has still kept the idea that the film’s shooting would start soon. He is the franchise expert. Stine’s work has found a lot of success on the video game world and in the small screen. A series of films is the only one which Stine hasn’t tried and it seems like that would be done soon as well. Jack Black, the main character in the movie was last seen in ‘Bernie’ and would crop up for a cameo in ‘Sex Tape’. He has also been busy by dubbing for Kung Fu Panda 3. With so many projects in hand, one would wonder whether he would have time for ‘Goosebumps.’
